Our Work

In short, HYP raises funds and contributes volunteer hours to build one house with Austin Habitat for Humanity each year. But, there's more to it than you might imagine!

Build Days
HYP members contribute volunteer hours every Saturday throughout the HYP build (approximately 9 weeks), and one Saturday per month throughout the calendar year.

Brush with Kindness
In addition to build hours, HYP members also donate time to Austin Habitat's Brush With Kindness program, which assists existing homeowners with home repairs and maintenance.

Fundraising
Each year, HYP commits to raising $100,000 for Austin Habitat for Humanity, fully funding one home annually. This sizable contribution is made possible as a result of membership dues, fundraising events, and generous corporate sponsorships.

HYP's fundraising events calendar includes the organization's flagship event, Build the HYP, a gala known to attract hundreds of prominent young professionals; Legacy Bash, a homecoming party celebrating our legacy of solid leadership; Build the Love, a casual and fun dining experience; and Urban Ranch Round-Up, a casual family-style BBQ featuring live music and an entire afternoon of fun and games.

Global Village
Recognizing the need for affordable housing across the globe, HYP has teamed up with Habitat for Humanity International to expand our reach and build abroad. HYP's inaugural Global Village trip in 2011 will be to Xela, Guatemala. Global Village volunteers devote a week to the build, and raise funds to cover trip costs and donations to HYP, Habitat International, and the build site's local Habitat affiliate.

Volunteer Leadership
HYP is managed by a volunteer board of directors and supported by a number of hard-working volunteer committees. HYP offers leadership opportunities to volunteers interested in contributing the management, coordination, and marketing of HYP events and opportunities.
